NHL All-Star captains named
Jan 17, 2008 - 11:24 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) - Calgary Flames right wing Jarome Iginla and Tampa Bay center Vincent Lecavalier on Thursday were named the captains for their respective teams in the NHL All-Star Game on January 27 in Atlanta.Iginla, who will be making his fourth appearance in the NHL All-Star Game, will lead the Western Conference. Lecavalier, who will be making his third appearance in the midseason gala, will guide the Eastern Conference.
The 30-year-old Iginla has 32 goals, 30 assists and 38 penalty minutes in 48 games this season. The two-time Olympian has been the Flames' team captain since prior to the 2003-04 season.
Lecavalier, 27, has 28 goals, 35 assists and 50 penalty minutes in 46 games this season. The top overall pick in the 1998 draft, Lecavalier won the Maurice Richard Trophy last season after leading the league with 52 goals.
