Thrashers LW Kovalchuk ejected
Jan 23, 2008 - 1:12 AM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- Atlanta Thrashers left wing Ilya Kovalchuk was ejected from Tuesday's game against the New York Rangers.The talented Russian was also assessed a five-minute boarding penalty during the first period for his hit on Michal Rozsival, which bloodied the defenseman and sent him to the locker room. Rozsival returned to the ice in the second period.
Kovalchuk has a NHL-leading 37 goals to go along with 26 assists in 51 games this season for the Thrashers, who have lost three in a row.
