Predators C Arnott injured

Feb 1, 2008 - 6:43 AM NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) -- Even though they overcame his loss against the Columbus Blue Jackets, the Nashville Predators cannot be without Jason Arnott for long.

Arnott left Thursday's 4-2 victory over the Blue Jackets in the second period with a leg injury and did not return.

"He sort of got tangled up with one of their guys," Nashville coach Barry Trotz said. "It's just a little lower leg injury, like a charley horse. I don't think it's anything serious. We were at a point where we took him out as a precaution more than anything."

According to Trotz, however, the Predators captain - who also was the team's lone representative in Sunday's All-Star Game - likely won't miss Nashville's next game.

"He probably won't practice (Friday), but I'd say right now that he's probable for the game against Phoenix (on) Saturday," Trotz said.

Prior to leaving, Arnott contributed to the Predators' offense, scoring a power-play goal midway through the first period to give his club a 2-0 lead.

In 51 games this season, Arnott has recorded 18 goals and 28 assists. Drafted seventh overall by Edmonton in 1993, the 33-year-old has collected 321 tallies and 744 points in 943 career contests with the Oilers, New Jersey Devils, Dallas Stars and Predators.
