Predators, Dumont agree to extension

Feb 1, 2008 - 6:03 PM TORONTO (Ticker) -- The Nashville Predators and right wing J.P. Dumont have agreed to a four-year contract extension, TSN of Canada reported Friday.

According to the report, the deal is worth $16 million.

The 29-year-old Dumont, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season, is on pace for the best season of his career. He has registered 18 goals and 27 assists in 52 games.

Nashville signed Dumont as a free agent prior to the 2006-07 season. In his first campaign with the Predators, Dumont posted a career-high 66 points (21 goals, 45 assists).

Selected third overall by the New York Islanders in the 1996 draft, Dumont has registered 160 goals and 367 points in 568 career games.

Dumont would be the second player in as many days to sign an extension with the Predators. Right wing Jordin Tootoo agreed to a two-year, $1.95 million deal on Thursday.
