Flyers lose Lupul, Downie

Feb 18, 2008 - 7:30 PM PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- The news keeps getting worse for the Philadelphia Flyers.

Mired in a seven-game losing streak, the Flyers could be without right wing Joffrey Lupul and enforcer Steve Downie for an extended period of time.

Lupul suffered a right high-ankle sprain in Saturday's 1-0 loss in Montreal and is expected to two sidelined for up to three weeks, the Philadelphia Daily News reported Monday.

Downie suffered a concussion in Sunday's 5-3 loss to the Canadiens and is listed as day-to-day.

The Flyers already are without left wing Simon Gagne, who suffered his third concussion against Pittsburgh on February 10.

"Just when you think you were going to get healthy, you start losing guys," Flyers coach John Stevens told the Daily News.

The losing streak has dropped Philadelphia to seventh in the Eastern Conference, just one point ahead of Buffalo and Boston.
