Maple Leafs LW Ponikarovsky leaves game
Feb 24, 2008 - 1:50 AM TORONTO (Ticker) -- Toronto Maple Leafs left wing Alexei Ponikarovsky left Saturday's game against the Atlanta Thrashers in the first period with a rib injury.Ponikarovsky suffered the injury when he collided with Atlanta defenseman Garnet Exelby just 27 seconds into the game. He will not return.
A seven-year veteran, Ponikarovsky has notched 11 goals and 14 assists in 51 games this season. The 27-year-old Ukrainian has recorded 68 tallies and 145 points in 319 career contests - all with Toronto.
