Stars D Zubov out 3-4 weeks
Feb 24, 2008 - 10:42 PM DALLAS (Ticker) -- The Dallas Stars defenseman Sergei Zubov underwent surgery to insert a screw in the fractured bone in his right foot and will not skate for three to four weeks, the team announced on Sunday.Zubov, 37, has missed the past 17 games - and 20 games overall this season - due to groin and foot injuries.
Despite playing in just 46 games this season, the Russian blue-liner ranks third on the team with 31 assists and fourth with 35 points.
Earlier this season, he became just the 15th defensemen in NHL history to record 600 assists when he set up a goal on November 21 against the Anaheim Ducks.
The 6-1, 198-pound defenseman has played in 1,058 career NHL games, recording 152 goals and 615 assists. A two-time Stanley Cup winner, Zubov is the only defenseman to collect 30-plus assists in each of the past 12 seasons.
