Predators C Legwand charged with DUI

Feb 25, 2008 - 7:23 PM NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) -- Nashville Predators center David Legwand has been charged with driving under the influence, according to Nashville police.

According to a police report, Legwand's 2006 Range Rover was clocked going 51 miles per hour in a 35 mph-zone zone near the downtown area on February 15.

The report said that Legwand, 27, was pulled over and that his "eyes were bloodshot and watery, and his pupils were dilated." The report also stated that Legwand had "an obvious odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath."

Legwand told police that he was driving home from a concert and refused to take a breath test, according to the report. The Detroit native acknowledged the incident Saturday following Nashville's 6-3 loss to the Dallas Stars.

The Tennessean reported Monday that Legwand is scheduled to appear in Davidson County criminal court on March 12 to face DUI charges.

Legwand has played in all five of Nashville's games since the arrest and has appeared in a total of 60 games this season, recording 13 goals and 27 assists.

The second overall draft selection in 1998 and the first pick in Predators franchise history, Legwand signed a six-year, $27 million deal with the Predators on December 7. He has spent his entire nine-year career in Nashville, scoring 119 goals and 323 points.
