Red Wings C Draper sidelined

Mar 14, 2008 - 12:09 AM DETROIT (Ticker) -- Detroit Red Wings center Kris Draper on Thursday learned he has a small tear in his groin and will be sidelined for a few days.

"I felt it late in the Chicago game (on Tuesday) and tried to skate (on Wednesday) and it didn't loosen up for me," Draper said. "So, they sent me to go get an ultrasound. I guess they found a small tear from what happened out on the West Coast trip."

The former Selke Trophy winner, Draper was not in the lineup when the Red Wings faced the Dallas Stars in a battle of Western Conference powers on Thursday.

Draper, 36, has nine goals and eight assists in 61 games this season. He has registered 141 tallies and 314 points in 946 career NHL contests.

Acquired from Winnipeg after the 1992-93 season, Draper has been a mainstay on one of the league's perennial powers.

Draper helped the Red Wings win three Stanley Cups in his 14 seasons with the club, in addition to winning the Selke Trophy as the best defensive forward in the league in 2004.
