Selanne nets milestone goal
Mar 23, 2008 - 2:30 AM GLENDALE, Arizona (Ticker) -- Anaheim Ducks right wing Teemu Selanne scored his 549th career goal in the first period of Saturday's game against the Phoenix Coyotes, tying him with Hall of Famer Ron Francis for 22nd place on the all-time list.The 37-year-old Selanne netted the milestone goal just 6:11 into the first period, skating in on a breakaway and wristing the puck past former teammate Ilya Bryzgalov for his ninth of the season.
A 10-time All-Star and former Maurice Richard Trophy winner, Selanne has recorded 549 goals and 604 assists in 14 seasons with four different clubs.
Francis, who is second all-time in assists (1,249) and fourth in points (1,798) while playing 23 seasons, won the Selke Trophy in 1995, the Lady Byng three times (1995, 1998, 2002) and the King Clancy in 2002.
