Legwand could miss rest of season

Mar 25, 2008 - 7:25 PM NASHVILLE (Ticker) -- Nashville Predators center David Legwand could miss the remainder of the season.

Legwand, who suffered a deep bone bruise on the top of his foot on March 7, will sit out his eighth straight game Tuesday, and Predators coach Barry Trotz said there is a chance he will not play again this season.

"There is a chance, yes," Trotz told The Tennessean newspaper. "It's in an area where there's nothing he can do about it. He's just got to let it heal, and that's time and therapy."

The Predators, who host Columbus on Tuesday, are four points out of a playoff spot in the Western Conference with only six games remaining. They have gone 2-5 without Legwand, who has registered 15 goals and 29 assists in 65 contests this season.

"We're doing everything we can to try to play," Legwand said. "I think (the swelling) has gone down a little bit. It's just a tough bone to deal with."
