Getzlaf, Giguere likely out vs. Kings

Mar 26, 2008 - 10:19 PM ANAHEIM, California (Ticker) -- The Anaheim Ducks likely will be without two key players as they look to clinch a playoff berth on Wednesday.

Center Ryan Getzlaf and goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere are battling nagging injuries and are not expected to be in action for the reigning Stanley Cup champions' contest against the Los Angeles Kings.

Anaheim (43-26-8) is currently fourth in the Western Conference standings and can clinch a postseason berth with at least a point against the Kings.

Getzlaf, the team's leading scorer with 77 points, is suffering from an upper body injury that acted up prior to Anaheim's 2-1 victory over Phoenix last Saturday night.

"I'm pretty sure that I'm out (Wednesday)," said Getzlaf, who missed the team's morning skate. "I am coming in tonight early to see the doctors and that kind of stuff.

"You never know, but it looks like I'm out for tonight and hopefully back by Friday. We'll see how it goes."

Giguere was kept out of the last two games with back spasms, and Jonas Hiller likely will get the start for the third straight game.

Giguere is 33-17-6 with a 2.11 goals-against average this season.
