Price named NHL's "First Star"

Apr 7, 2008 - 8:51 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- After helping his team grab the top seed for the Eastern Conference playoffs, Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price on Monday was named the NHL's "First Star" of the week.

Also honored in the final "Three Stars" awards of the regular season were New York Rangers right wing Jaromir Jagr and Washington Capitals goaltender Cristobal Huet.

Price won all three of his starts last week, posting a 0.67 goals-against average with one shutout and a .977 save percentage. He became Montreal's starter in February when Huet was dealt to Washington at the trade deadline.

Jagr led all scorers with seven points in a 2-0-2 week for the Rangers. On Thursday, he scored two goals in a 3-0 win over the New York Islanders that enabled New York to clinch a playoff spot.

Jagr played in all 82 games for the Rangers this season and finished as the team's leading scorer with 71 points. He moved into ninth place on the NHL's all-time scoring list with 1,599 points.

Huet was 3-0-0 with a 1.00 goals-against last week, helping the surprising Capitals win the Southeast Division title. Washington won its final seven regular-season games.
