Spezza questionable for Game Three
Apr 14, 2008 - 12:04 AM OTTAWA (Ticker) -- Ottawa Senators center Jason Spezza missed practice on Sunday, leaving the All-Star's availability in question for Monday's Game Three of the team's quarterfinal series with the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Senators, who trail the series two-games-to-none, are already missing considerable firepower with captain Daniel Alfredsson, Mike Fisher and Chris Kelly sidelined due to various injuries.
Ottawa coach Bryan Murray plans to be patient with Spezza, who jammed his leg against the boards in Friday's 5-3 loss in Game Two.
"We'll have to wait until (Monday) to find out," Murray said of Spezza's condition. "He couldn't skate today, he felt, so we'll just have to wait and see."
Spezza led the Senators this season with 92 points, including a team-high 58 assists.
A first-round pick - second overall - by the Senators in the 2001 draft, Spezza has compiled 116 tallies and 229 assists in 322 games over four seasons.
