Predators to be without Arnott

Apr 20, 2008 - 7:05 PM NASHVILLE (Ticker) -- The Nashville Predators will be without center Jason Arnott on Sunday when they try to force a seventh game in their Western Conference quarterfinal series against the Detroit Red Wings.

The Predators announced that Arnott will miss Sunday's game with a concussion. He has been battling an illness that may have been brought on by the concussion.

On Saturday, Predators coach Barry Trotz told The Tennessean that Arnott had the "flu or food poisoning, or something like that."

Nashville also could without center David Legwand, who has missed 14 games with a deep bone bruise that caused him to miss 14 games, including the first two of this series. Legwand's status with be determined at game time.

After scoring the game-winner in Game Three of the series, Arnott was mobbed by his teammates and taken hard to the ice by winger Alexander Radulov. Arnott played in Game Four but was struck in the head with a puck during the contest.

However, Nashville general manager David Poile was not sure when Arnott suffered the concussion.

"When it happened, I don't think anyone exactly knows," Poile said.

Neither Arnott nor Legwand played in the Predators' 2-1 overtime loss in Game Five.

Arnott was evaluated by team doctors on Saturday, when it was determined that he had a concussion.

Poile said Arnott was feeling better on Sunday morning and did not rule out him playing if the series goes to a seventh game back in Detroit on Tuesday.

"On Friday, he went out for the morning skate and after the skate is when he complained to coach Trotz that he was feeling nauseous,"Poile said.
