Flyers D Coburn out for Game Four
May 15, 2008 - 6:53 PM PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Braydon Coburn will miss Game Four of the Eastern Conference finals against the Pittsburgh Penguins, the team announced Thursday. The team's No. 2 defenseman, Coburn left Sunday's setback at Pittsburgh just 1:51 into the first period after being on the receiving end of a puck to the face.
He also missed Tuesday's defeat, as his left eye was still swollen shut.
Coburn skated with the team on Wednesday but is still not ready to return to game action.
"We're not going to put anybody back in the lineup if we don't feel they're ready to play, and clearly that's the case right now," Flyers coach John Stevens said. "He's a young kid that wants to play. He's really kind of distraught right now that he's not able to play.
"We're hopeful we'll win this game today, and we have a couple of days before we play again, and hopefully we can get him back."
Flyers rookie defenseman Ryan Parent will play again in Game Four after making his return to the lineup on Tuesday. Parent was a healthy scratch for Philadelphia's previous 13 contests.
No one has shouted yet.
