Franzen practices, eyes Game Two
May 26, 2008 - 3:00 AM DETROIT (Ticker) -- Johan Franzen is another step closer toward making his return to the Detroit Red Wings.Franzen, who has been sidelined with concussion-like symptoms, practiced on Sunday and plans to do so again on Monday morning, according to the Detroit News.
Should all go well, the 28-year-old Swede believes he'll be able to return to the Presidents' Trophy-winning Red Wings in time for Game Two of the Stanley Cup Finals against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday night.
Detroit won Saturday's opener of the best-of-seven series, 4-0.
"We'll make a decision tomorrow," Franzen told the newspaper. "I was hoping to get hit, but didn't get any. I was hoping Mac (Darren McCarty) would hit me.
"It's better, I don't feel anything anymore. It's good. There will be so much adrenaline, it doesn't matter what shape you're in."
Franzen, who is tied with teammate Henrik Zetterberg for the NHL lead this postseason with 12 goals, has not played since Game One of the Western Conference finals against the Dallas Stars due to a concussion.
Franzen has scored 27 goals in his last 27 games dating to March 2.
