Flames re-sign Conroy, Langkow

Jun 27, 2008 - 7:05 PM CALGARY, Alberta (Ticker) -- The Calgary Flames on Friday re-signed four players, including centers Craig Conroy and Daymond Langkow.

Conroy, 36, is in his second tour of duty with the Flames, rejoining the team in the second half of the 2006-07 campaign after spending four years in Calgary from 2000-04. He is entering his 13th NHL season.

Langkow, 31, is heading into his 12th season and his fourth in Calgary. He recorded 77 points in 2006-07 and 65 points last season - the two highest totals of his career.

"Conroy and Langkow are two of our top centermen who are strong role models for our team both on and off the ice," Flames general manager Darryl Sutter said. "Especially with more young wingers in our lineup, their experience and leadership with be important."

The Flames also signed left wing Eric Nystrom and goaltender Curtis McElhinney, both 25. Nystrom played in 44 games for Calgary last season while McElhinney made his NHL debut, appearing in five games for the club.
