PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- The Philadelphia Flyers have signed center Jeff Carter to a multi-year contract extension, the team announced Friday.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but TSN of Canada reported that it was a three-year, $15 million contract extension.
One of Philadelphia's top young players, the 23-year-old Carter played in all 82 games this past season, recording 29 goals and 24 assists.
"Jeff is a terrific young player who has come up through our organization, and we believe that he is only going to get better," Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren said. "It is a priority for us to keep our core of young players intact, and signing Jeff allows us to do that."
Carter also collected six goals and five assists in 17 playoff contests for the Flyers, who advanced to the Eastern Conference finals.
An Ontario native, Carter originally was taken by the Flyers in the first round of the 2003 draft. He has 66 goals and 66 assists in 225 career contests.
"I'm very excited to be staying in Philadelphia," Carter said. "We have a great group of guys on this team, and I can't wait to get back on the ice and continue where we left off last season."
