Red Wings sign D Lilja to extension
Jul 1, 2008 - 12:10 AM DETROIT (Ticker) -- Andreas Lilja will remain with the defending Stanley Cup champions.The veteran defenseman avoided becoming a free agent by signing a two-year contract extension with the Detroit Red Wings on Monday.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the Detroit Free Press reported that the deal is worth a total of $2.4 million.
The 32-year-old Lilja notched two goals and 12 points last season. The Swede has 12 tallies and 47 assists over seven seasons with the Red Wings, Florida Panthers and Los Angeles Kings.
