Sabres re-sign C Gaustad to four-year deal

Jul 1, 2008 - 1:33 AM BUFFALO, New York (Ticker) -- The Buffalo Sabres on Monday re-signed center Paul Gaustad to a four-year contract.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but TSN is reporting that it is worth a total of $9.2 million, with Gaustad earning $1.7 million for the first year and $2.5 million per year for the remaining three years of the deal.

The 26-year-old Gaustad, who was scheduled to become a free agent on Tuesday, notched 10 goals and 36 points last season.

"We felt it was very important to sign Paul to a multi-year deal at this stage of his career," Buffalo general manager Darcy Regier said. "He has become an integral part of our team both on and off the ice in the past three years."

Entering his fourth NHL season - all with the Sabres - Gaustad has 28 tallies and 54 assists in 215 career games.
