Devils re-sign LW Pandolfo, D Salvador

Jul 1, 2008 - 4:30 PM NEWARK, New Jersey (Ticker) -- On the first day of free agency, the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday re-signed left wing Jay Pandolfo and defenseman Bryce Salvador.

Terms were not disclosed, but TSN of Canada reported that Salvador signed a four-year deal worth just under $12 million.

Pandolfo, 33, who registered 12 goals and 12 assists in 54 games last season, is entering his 12th campaign with New Jersey.

The Massachusetts native has recorded 90 goals and 114 assists in 706 career games, all with the Devils. A second-round pick in 1993, he was a member of New Jersey's Stanley Cup-winning teams in 2000 and 2003.

Salvador, 32, was acquired at the February 26 trade deadline in a deal that sent Cam Janssen to the St. Louis Blues. He played in only eight games for the Devils and did not record a point before suffering a fractured clavicle that caused him to miss the final 14 contests of the regular season.

Salvador has recorded 63 points, 424 penalty minutes and a minus-15 rating in 455 career games but was a career-best plus-12 last season with the Blues before being traded.

In other moves Tuesday, the Devils re-signed right wings David Clarkson and Barry Tallackson.

Clarkson, 24, posted nine goals and 13 assists last season with the Devils - his first full year in the NHL.

The 25-year-old Tallackson appeared in three games with New Jersey without notching a point. A second-round pick in 2002, he recorded 22 goals and 23 assists in 63 contests with Lowell of the American Hockey League.

The Devils also inked right wings Matt Halischuk and Vladimir Zharkov to contracts.
