Flyers sign C Metropolit, three others
Jul 1, 2008 - 11:04 PM PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- The Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday signed unrestricted free agent center Glen Metropolit to a two-year contract.Also on Tuesday, the Flyers signed defensemen Ossi Vaananen and Sean Curry and right wing Nate Raduns.
Metropolit recorded 11 goals, 22 assists and 36 penalty minutes in 82 games for the Boston Bruins last season. The 34-year-old has notched 35 goals, 78 assists and 96 penalty minutes in 262 career games with the Washington Capitals, Tampa Bay Lightning, Atlanta Thrashers, St. Louis Blues and Bruins.
Vaananen, a 6-4, 215-pound blue-liner, signed a one-year deal worth a reported $1 million after recording seven goals, eight assists and 102 penalty minutes in 45 games for Djurgardens IF Stockholm of Sweden this past season.
A second-round pick of Phoenix in 1998, the 27-year-old Finn has registered 12 goals, 45 assists and 460 penalty minutes in 430 career NHL games with the Coyotes and Colorado Avalanche.
The 24-year-old Raduns inked a one-year deal after notching 12 goals and 27 points in 56 games last season with the Worcester Sharks of the American Hockey League.
Curry, 26, signed a two-year contract after posting a career-high 13 goals and 38 points in 72 contests with the AHL's Providence Bruins last campaign.
