Maple Leafs re-sign C Stajan
Jul 7, 2008 - 4:56 PM TORONTO (Ticker) -- Durable center Matt Stajan is headed back to the Toronto Maple Leafs.A restricted free agent, the 24-year-old Stajan on Monday signed a two-year contract extension with the Maple
Leafs. Toronto did not release financial terms, but TSN of Canada reported that the contract is worth $3.5 million.
The Ontario native was one of only three Toronto players to skate in all 82 games last season, when he scored a career-high 16 goals and added 17 assists.
Stajan has played in 176 consecutive games and has appeared in a team-high 244 contests over the past three seasons.
Taken by Toronto in the second round of the 2002 draft, Stajan has collected 56 goals and 71 assists in 314 career contests with the Maple Leafs.
