Capitals re-sign C-RW Gordon

Jul 11, 2008 - 10:49 PM ARLINGTON, Virginia (Ticker) -- The Washington Capitals retained the last of their restricted free agents Friday, signing center-right wing Boyd Gordon to a one-year contract.

Financial terms were undisclosed.

Drafted 17th overall in 2002, Gordon recorded seven goals and nine assists in 67 games with the Southeast Division champions last season. The 24-year-old finished ninth in the NHL with a 55.8 percent win rate on faceoffs and third among all forwards in the league with an average ice time of exactly four minutes in shorthanded situations.

A native of Saskatchewan, Gordon has collected 15 goals and 37 assists in 204 career games with the Capitals.

In addition to Gordon, the Capitals have re-signed restricted free agents Eric Fehr, Brooks Laich and defenseman Mike Green. Blue-liner Shaone Morrisonn filed for arbitration on Saturday.
