Thrashers agree to terms with G Lehtonen
Jul 17, 2008 - 1:28 AM ATLANTA (Ticker) -- The Atlanta Thrashers agreed to terms with goaltender Kari Lehtonen on Wednesday.Terms were not disclosed, but the CBC is reporting it is a one-year, $3 million deal.
Lehtonen, 24, went 17-22-5 in 48 games for Atlanta last season, his fourth with the team. Drafted second overall in 2002, he tied a career high with four shutouts and posted a 2.90 goals-against average and franchise-record .916 save percentage.
The 6-4, 205-pound native of Finland has appeared in 158 games with the Thrashers - most in franchise history - and is 75-61-14 with 11 shutouts. While his 2.82 GAA ranks second in franchise history, Lehtonen is the club leader in wins, shutouts and save percentage (.913).
