Flyers sign prospect Marshall
Jul 22, 2008 - 8:21 PM PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- The Philadelphia Flyers have signed defenseman Kevin Marshall to an entry-level contract, the team announced Tuesday. In 66 games for Lewiston of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League this past season, the 19-year old Marshall recorded 11 goals, 24 assists and 143 penalty minutes. Marshall was named to the QMJHL Second All-Star Team following the 2007-2008 season.
The 6-1, 195-pound blue-liner was the Flyers' second-round pick in the 2007 draft and said he was suprised about the signing.
"They said that they liked my work ethic," Marshall said. "They were thinking about (signing me), but I was thinking that they have another year to sign me. When my agent called me, I was very happy because it shows me that they think that I am a good prospect for the Flyers, which makes me very proud."
