Bruins, D Wideman agree to four-year deal
Jul 23, 2008 - 12:57 AM TORONTO (Ticker) -- The Boston Bruins avoided arbitration with Dennis Wideman on Tuesday, agreeing to terms on a four-year, $15.75 million contract, according to a report by Rogers Sportsnet.Wideman made $600,000 last season, his first full campaign with the Bruins. The 25-year-old was acquired from the St. Louis Blues on February 27, 2007 for Brad Boyes.
A native of Kitchener, Ontario, Wideman recorded 13 goals, 23 assists and a plus-11 rating in 81 games with Boston in 2007-08. The 6-foot, 196-pounder has collected 27 tallies, 85 points and 224 penalty minutes in 223 career contests with the Blues and Bruins.
Wideman was an eighth-round pick of the Buffalo Sabres in the 2002 draft.
