Bruins sign D Wideman to extension
Jul 23, 2008 - 8:34 PM BOSTON (Ticker) -- The Boston Bruins signed defenseman Dennis Wideman to a multi-year extension on Wednesday.Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Rogers Sportsnet on Tuesday reported that the deal is for four years and worth $15.75 million.
Wideman made $600,000 last season, his first full campaign with the Bruins. The 25-year-old was acquired from the St. Louis Blues on February 27, 2007 for Brad Boyes.
An Ontario native, Wideman recorded 13 goals, 23 assists and a plus-11 rating in 81 games with Boston in 2007-08. The 6-foot, 196-pounder has collected 27 tallies, 85 points and 224 penalty minutes in 223 career contests with the Blues and Bruins.
Wideman was an eighth-round pick of the Buffalo Sabres in the 2002 draft.
