Red Wings sign RW Haydar, LW Oulahen

Jul 23, 2008 - 10:31 PM DETROIT (Ticker) -- The Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday inked right wing Darren Haydar to a one-year contract and re-signed left wing Ryan Oulahen to a one-year deal.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

A ninth-round pick of Nashville in 1999, Haydar appeared in 16 games with Atlanta last season, recording one goal and seven assists - his first NHL points. The 28-year-old spent the majority of the campaign with Chicago of the American Hockey League, registering 19 tallies and 58 points in 51 regular-season contests before adding 12 goals and 15 assists in 24 playoff games as the Wolves captured the Calder Cup championship.

Haydar made his NHL debut with the Predators in 2002-03, skating in two games, and also saw action in four contests with the Thrashers in 2006-07.

Oulahen, 23, notched 14 goals and 16 assists in 75 games with Grand Rapids of the AHL last season. The native of Newmarket, Ontario was selected by Detroit in the fifth round of the 2003 draft.
