UNIONDALE, New York (Ticker) -- The New York Islanders signed defenseman Bruno Gervais to a three-year contract worth $2.2 million on Friday.
Gervais, 23, is now signed through the 2010-11 season.
This past season, Gervais appeared in 60 games with New York, collecting 13 assists while averaging 20 minutes of ice time.
"Bruno is a homegrown talent and has been developing in our system for a few years," Islanders general manager Garth Snow said. "He's a high-character player and person and is someone who is great in the Long Island community. We're very excited to have him on board for the next three years"
A sixth-round pick of New York in 2003, Gervais has appeared in 138 games over the past three seasons, notching three goals and 23 assists. He also played in five playoff games in 2007, scoring a goal and posting an assist in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series with Buffalo.
With the signing of Gervais, the Islanders have come to terms with all of their restricted free agents this offseason.
