Capitals sign C Steckel
Aug 6, 2008 - 6:25 PM ARLINGTON, Virginia (Ticker) -- The Washington Capitals on Wednesday signed center David Steckel to a one-year extension that keeps him under contract through the 2009-10 season.Financial terms were not disclosed.
Steckel, 26, who recorded five goals and seven assists in 67 games for the Capitals last season, would have become an unrestricted free agent following the upcoming campaign.
Signed by Washington as a free agent on August 25, 2005, Steckel spent most of the previous two seasons with Hershey of the American Hockey League.
