Flyers name Berube assistant
Aug 7, 2008 - 6:00 PM PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) -- Craig Berube was named an assistant for the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday after spending last season as the head coach of the Philadelphia Phantoms, the team's affiliate in the American Hockey League.Prior to taking the Phantoms' post, Berube, 42, served as an assistant for the team in parts of three seasons from 2003 through 2006. He also skated in 323 games for the Flyers during his playing career.
"Craig will bring new energy to the Flyers' coaching staff," general manager Paul Holmgren said. "His knowledge of, and experience with, many of our young players will be invaluable."
The Flyers also announced that John Paddock with replace Berube as coach of the Phantoms. Paddock posted a 36-23-6 record as coach of the Ottawa Senators last season before getting fired.
