Canadiens sign D Weber
Aug 15, 2008 - 11:08 PM MONTREAL (Ticker) -- The Montreal Canadiens on Friday signed defenseman Yannick Weber to a three-year contract.Financial terms were not disclosed.
A third-round pick in 2007, the 5-11, 191-pound Weber helped the Kitchener Rangers to the Ontario Hockey League championship last season, recording 20 goals and 35 assists in 59 regular-season games before adding four tallies and 17 points in 17 playoff contests.
The 19-year-old native of Switzerland, who served as captain of his nation's team at this year's World Junior Championship, has collected 33 goals and 63 assists in 110 games over two seasons with Kitchener.
