NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Ticker) -- The Nashville Predators secured the services of a former draft pick Tuesday, signing center Nick Spaling to a contract.

Terms were not disclosed.

A second-round pick in 2007, Spaling spent the last three seasons with Kitchener of the Ontario Hockey League. In 2007-08, the 19-year-old recorded 38 goals and 34 assists in 56 games, finishing third on the Rangers in points despite missing six weeks due to illness and helping the team to the OHL title and Memorial Cup Finals.

The 6-1, 185-pound Spaling will attend the Predators' training camp, which opens September 19, but is expected to spend the majority of 2008-09 with Milwaukee of the American Hockey League.
