SAN JOSE, California (Ticker) -- The San Jose Sharks signed defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic to a four-year contract extension on Wednesday.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Vlasic played in all 82 games for the Sharks last season, notching two goals and 12 assists. The Quebec native had three goals and 23 assists during his rookie campaign in 2006-07 and was named to the NHL's All-Rookie team.
"Marc-Edouard is one of the top young defensemen in the game, and we are excited to have him in the fold for the next several years," Sharks general manager Doug Wilson said. "He has a tremendous future with this franchise and we look forward to watching his continued development."
The 6-1, 195-pound Vlasic was originally selected by San Jose in the second round, 35th overall, of the 2005 draft.
