Kings secure two prospects
Aug 27, 2008 - 10:20 PM LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- The Los Angeles Kings secured the services of two Russian prospects Wednesday, agreeing to terms with defenseman Viatcheslav Voynov and center Andrei Loktionov on three-year contracts.Financial terms were not disclosed.
A second-round pick in this past June's draft, the 18-year-old Voynov spent the past two seasons with Traktor Chelyabinsk of the Russian League. The 6-foot, 190-pounder notched one goal and three assists in 36 games last campaign.
Selected three rounds later, Loktionov, 18, recorded one assist in five games with Yaroslavl Lokomotiv of the Russian Super League in 2007-08. Along with Voynov, the 5-11, 187-pounder helped Russia to the silver medal at this year's Under-18 World Championship.
