Bruins sign Ds Egener, Stokes
Aug 28, 2008 - 11:22 PM BOSTON (Ticker) -- The Boston Bruins added depth to their blue line Thursday, signing defensemen Mike Egener and Ryan Stokes to contracts.Terms were not disclosed.
Selected by Tampa Bay in the second round of the 2003 draft, the 6-4, 213-pound Egener has yet to make his NHL debut. Last season, the 23-year-old German recorded a goal and two assists in 17 games with Norfolk of the American Hockey League and added one tally in nine contests with Mississippi of the ECHL.
Stokes, 24, spent last campaign with Rockford of the AHL, where he registered four goals, six assists and 93 penalty minutes in 55 games. The 6-4, 200-pounder also collected 14 penalty minutes in 12 playoff contests with the IceHogs.
