DETROIT (Ticker) -- The Detroit Red Wings reportedly have agreed to terms with veteran defenseman Chris Chelios on a one-year contract worth $850,000.

According to Detroit-based web site MLive.com, the 46-year-old Chelios is expected to officially sign the deal next week. The contract does not include any bonuses, according to the report.

"We've basically agreed,'' Red Wings general manager Ken Holland told the web site. "When he gets into town next week, we're going to sign it.''

A three-time Norris Trophy winner, Chelios appeared in 69 games last season with the Stanley Cup champion Red Wings, collecting three goals and nine assists. The Chicago native played 14 postseason gamed this past spring but failed to record a point.

An 11-time All-Star, Chelios has 185 goals and 763 assists in a stellar career spent with the Red Wings, Chicago Blackhawks and Montreal Canadiens. He also won championships with Montreal in 1986 and Detroit in 2002.

According to MLive.com, the Red Wings also are close to signing defenseman Kyle Quincey to a two-year contract.

Quincey, 23, has appeared in 13 games over parts of three seasons with Detroit, scoring one goal.
