Canadiens re-sign D Brisebois
Sep 12, 2008 - 11:07 PM MONTREAL (Ticker) -- The Montreal Canadiens continued their busy Friday by re-signing defenseman Patrice Brisebois to a one-year contract.Financial terms were not disclosed.
The move was announced just minutes after Montreal acquired center Robert Lang from the Chicago Blackhawks for a second-round pick in 2010.
Brisebois, who himself was a second-round pick of the Canadiens in 1989, returned to the team for his second stint last season. The 37-year-old native of Montreal spent the first 14 campaigns of his career with the "Original Six" franchise before playing for the Colorado Avalanche from 2005-07.
In 2007-08, Brisebois recorded three goals and eight assists in 43 games with the Canadiens. The 6-1, 196-pounder, who helped the club to the Stanley Cup championship in 1993, has collected 93 tallies, 402 points and 604 penalty minutes in 947 career contests with Montreal and Colorado.
