DETROIT (Ticker) -- Darren McCarty is back for another season in "Hockeytown."
McCarty on Wednesday agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
A second-round pick of the Red Wings in 1992, McCarty returned to Detroit in February after spending the previous two seasons with the Calgary Flames. The rugged 36-year-old right wing notched one assist in three regular-season games before recording a goal and two points in 17 contests during Detroit's run to the championship.
Along with captain Nicklas Lidstrom, Tomas Holmstrom, Kris Draper and Kirk Maltby, McCarty has been a member of the Red Wings' Stanley Cup-winning teams in 1997, 1998, 2002 and 2008. The British Columbia native has collected 126 goals, 161 assists and 1,452 penalty minutes in 745 career games with Detroit and Calgary.
