Thrashers sign D Enstrom to extension
Sep 24, 2008 - 5:26 PM ATLANTA (Ticker) -- The Atlanta Thrashers on Wednesday signed Tobias Enstrom to a four-year contract extension.Financial terms of the deal, which will keep the talented defenseman in Atlanta through the 2012-13 season, were not disclosed.
Enstrom appeared in all 82 games during his rookie season in 2007-08 and scored five goals and 38 points. He set a franchise record for the most assists by a defenseman in a season and tied the club mark for points by a defenseman.
The 23-year-old, who averaged 24:28 of ice time and was a fixture on the power play, was named to the NHL All-Rookie Team and represented the Thrashers at the 2008 NHL YoungStars game.
Enstrom was selected by the Thrashers in the eighth round, 239th overall, of the 2003 draft.
