Bruins demote three, waive C St. Pierre
Oct 2, 2008 - 11:51 PM BOSTON (Ticker) -- The Boston Bruins on Thursday assigned goaltender Tuukka Rask and defensemen Matt Lashoff and Jeff Penner to Providence of the American Hockey League.The team also placed center Martin St. Pierre on waivers.
A 21-year-old Finn, Rask posted a 2-1-1 record with a 3.25 goals-against average and .886 save percentage in four games with Boston last season.
Rask was acquired from Toronto in June 2006 for fellow netminder Andrew Raycroft after being drafted 21st overall by the Maple Leafs a year earlier.
Lashoff, 22, had one goal and four assists in 18 games with Boston in 2007-08.
The 21-year-old Penner, who signed a three-year contract in March, recorded five goals and seven assists in 35 games with the University of Alaska-Fairbanks last campaign.
