Senators C Fisher out for weekend series
Oct 4, 2008 - 6:10 PM STOCKHOLM, Sweden (Ticker) -- Ottawa Senators center Mike Fisher will miss this weekend's season-opening series against the Pittsburgh Penguins.Fisher suffered a groin injury in during the club's preseason win over Frolunda in Sweden on Thursday. He tested the injury ahead of Saturday's game with the Penguins in Stockholm, Sweden, and determined that he could not go.
"I just didn't feel right (with) my stride," said Fisher, who will miss Sunday's game against Pittsburgh as well. "When you get in a game, it's a total, different situation with stops and starts and being strong. I just knew it wasn't good enough to go to play."
Sixth on the Senators in scoring with 47 points last season, Fisher hopes to be ready for the Senators home opener against the reigning Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings on October 11.
