Report: Canucks sign C Hodgson

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (Ticker) -- The Vancouver Canucks signed center Cody Hodgson to an entry-level contract, according to CKNW radio in Vancouver.

The 10th overall pick of the 2008 draft, Hodgson led Brampton of the Ontario Hockey League with 40 goals in 68 games last season. He also recorded five tallies in five postseason contests as Brampton was eliminated in the first round.

The 6-foot, 185-pounder had two goals and a tournament-best 10 assists for gold medal-winning Team Canada at the 2008 Under-18 World Championship. The 18-year-old also won gold with Team Ontario at the 2007 Canada Winter Games.

Hodgson, who is a strong two-way player that possesses strong skating ability, grew up playing for the Markham Waxers with top overall pick Steven Stamkos.
