Hurricanes RW Walker out six weeks
Oct 6, 2008 - 3:36 PM RALEIGH, North Carolina (Ticker) -- Carolina Hurricanes right wing Scott Walker will be sidelined six weeks after undergoing surgery Monday morning to repair a torn ligament in his left hand. The operation was performed by Dr. Harrison Tuttle at Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic.
Walker, 35, scored 14 goals and 32 points in 58 games last season, his second with the Hurricanes. The 13-year veteran did not record a point in three preseason games this year.
Walker became the latest Hurricanes forward to suffer a long-term injury.
Right wing Justin Williams (Achilles) already has been placed on injured reserve, and captain Rod Brind'Amour (knee) and left wing Ray Whitney (foot) both made their exhibition debuts Sunday after missing most of the preseason to nurse injuries.
