Canucks get D O'Brien, RW Ouellet from Lightning
Oct 7, 2008 - 12:29 AM VANCOUVER, British Columbia (Ticker) -- The Vancouver Canucks acquired defenseman Shane O'Brien and right wing Michel Ouellet from the Tampa Lightning on Monday for defenseman Lukas Krajicek and right wing Juraj Simek.O'Brien, 25, recorded four goals and 21 points in 77 games with the Lightning last season. He has played in 158 NHL games, scoring six goals and 31 assists with 330 penalty minutes.
"It's been kind of a hectic day," O'Brien said after arriving home at 7 a.m. from Prague, Czech Republic.
"It's been a little much to handle, but any time you get moved to another team it means somebody wants you, and that's all you can ask for."
The 26-year-old Ouellet has 52 goals and 116 points in 187 career games with Tampa Bay and the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Krajicek, 25, tallied two goals and nine assists in 39 games with the Canucks last season, while the 21-year-old Simek spent the 2007-08 campaign with Manitoba of the American Hockey League.
