Rangers assign G Wiikman to minors
Oct 6, 2008 - 11:14 PM NEW YORK (Ticker) -- The New York Rangers on Monday assigned goaltender Miika Wiikman to Hartford of the American Hockey League.The 23-year-old Swede did not dress for the Rangers in their weekend series against the Tampa Bay Lightning in Prague, Czech Republic.
Last season, Wiikman notched a 21-8-3 record with a 2.30 goals-against average and .919 save percentage in 34 games with the Wolf Pack.
The 6-foot, 180-pound netminder also appeared in four contests with Charlotte of the ECHL, posting a 1-1-2 record with a 2.36 goals-against average.
