Maple Leafs assign three players to AHL
Oct 8, 2008 - 9:32 PM TORONTO (Ticker) -- The Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday assigned center Boyd Devereaux, left wing Mark Bell and defenseman Staffan Kronwall to the Toronto Marlies, their affiliate in the American Hockey League.Devereaux, 30, played in 62 games for the Maple Leafs last season, recording seven goals and 11 assists.
Bell skated in 35 contests for Toronto, notching four goals and six assists. The 28-year-old Ontario native also missed two months while recovering from a broken orbital bone and served a 15-game suspension for a drunk-driving conviction.
Kronwall, 26, made 18 appearances for the club in 2007-08 without registering a point.
The Maple Leafs open the regular season Thursday when they visit the defending Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings.
