Sharks assign D McLaren to Worcester
Oct 8, 2008 - 10:03 PM SAN JOSE, California (Ticker) -- The San Jose Sharks on Wednesday assigned veteran defenseman Kyle McLaren to Worcester of the American Hockey League.McLaren, who was placed on waivers on Tuesday, recorded three goals and eight assists in 61 games for San Jose last season - his fifth with the team after being acquired from the Boston Bruins in 2003.
The 31-year-old was drafted ninth overall by Boston in 1995 and earned a spot on the All-Rookie team as the youngest player in the league at age 18.
In corresponding moves, the Sharks also assigned right wings Riley Armstrong and Brad Staubitz to their AHL affiliate.
Worcester opens its regular season against the Lowell Devils on Saturday.
